Maryland Bottle Bill

Our friends at the Anacostia Watershed Society are asking for Maryland members help. The Maryland legislature’s bill, HB 331/SB 342, the Maryland Bottle Bill, would establish a 10¢ deposit on bottles and cans that would be refunded when the container is returned for recycling. Deposit-return systems have been in place in 10 states for decades and have proven to dramatically increase recycling and reduce pollution. To learn more about this important legislation, check out this fact sheet and share it with your friends and family.  The bill is being considered right now in Maryland’s short January-April legislative session. Please consider contacting your Maryland Delegate and Senator and telling them you support the MD Bottle Bill.  You can find your representatives by clicking on this link and typing in your address. Members - Find My Representatives,

Virginia House passes MAWS Act to fight the Blue Catfish Invasion. Now headed to the Senate.

Catch invasive fish and eat them! The VA legislature has a bill to establish a commercial fishery for those nasty Blue Catfish that are eating up all the game fish. Supporters need some help getting this one over the transom.
