Maryland Fly Fishing Trail
Did you know that Maryland has a Fly Fishing Trail?
Maryland's Fish & Hunt Maryland (FHMD) launched a Fly Fishing Trail in the Fall of 2022 to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of National Hunting and Fishing Day. The trail features 48 sites across all 23 counties and Baltimore City and provides information on fish species, water types, techniques and flies, and access details. Visitors will also find information on nearby businesses, travel, and regulations.
The development of the trail was initiated by the Sport Fish Advisory Commission and Maryland Fly Fishing Trail Team, with support from the FHMD, Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Department of Commerce, and private-sector agencies. The aim of the trail is to showcase Maryland's diverse waterways and fish species to experienced and novice anglers alike and to promote the state as a bucket list fly fishing destination.
Visitors are encouraged to share their experience using #fishhuntmd on social media, and the website also provides links to nearby tourist attractions, parks, outdoor activities, events, and lodging.
Visitors are invited to view the new trail online and, once inspired, visit Maryland’s Fly Fishing Trail sites and then share their experience via the FHMD social channels using #fishhuntmd. For more information, go to www.fishandhuntmaryland.com, Instagram or Facebook.
Attend the presentation by Rich for more information at the Maryland Fly Fishing Show on Saturday, March 21.
