Fly of the Month: Zebra Midge

Each month we highlight a fly pattern that we think you should know and carry - this month it is the Zebra Midge!

Yes, the Zebra Midge! This is one of the old faithful flies, and can be particularly effective in small sizes on big fish. During a CWA trip earlier this year our members found that the zebra midge was the one fly the fish couldn’t resist. Zebra midges are commonly tied in red or black with a thin wire, but they can also be tied in shades of brown and green. Swap a brass or tungsten bead with a glass one for a very lightweight fly that is killer on a dual nymph setup.
