Fly of the Month: Mata Crappie
Each month we highlight a fly pattern that we think you should know and carry - this month it is the Mata Crappie!
Ok, we confess. We’ve never tied this pattern. But look at it! This thing SCREAMS bass bug, right? And with the summer heat in full swing, it’s time to turn our attention to fishing those warm water species like bass. We’ve found that bass as much less picky than trout, and they’ll generally eat anything, so why not try a Mata Crappie? As the name implies, this bug is designed for sunfish and crappie, but we see no reason it wouldn’t work for bass too. Tie one up and let us know if you catch something with it!
